Catharsis
So where to from here…………a dignified glass of wine…maybe another half…a listen again to that new album, by who was it he Arctic….somethings???
He was enjoying his written art again…quiet evenings stretching over into the Ante Meridiem, peaceful intimate concentration yet relaxation. and like so many other things…words once started would again become part of his life……possessing a cathartic quality and further, that he was achieving something.., anything,, positive and worthwhile.
No-one would, could, argue as he tapped his thoughts onto the blinking screen , with a worst case scenario of expected rejected slip , a sustained campaign of effort over the keyboard would ultimately bring recognition reward?
A word processing diary was being cobbled together using syntax pictures but where was it going? Short story for sure? But a diary? A monologue? First person? second person? And a target date to provide focus..otherwise it would not be completed , but simply remain on the computer occasionally blinking a guilty reminder of a work that was not really in progress.

International Lonliness
International loneliness
Like a parasite
on Saturday night
I feel loneliness bite
for no real reason
London’s’ bars are choc full of
international youth
Concealing international loneliness
sporting painted on happiness
which isolates me further
so I walk away from the buzz
home toward my comfy flat
feeling just that
flat.

Night duty - a poetic observation.
Night Duty
Gummy eyed
between darkness caress
and daylights prodding fingers
night duty torpor
poor mans jet lag
at least
assured escape
from day times’ hectic swirl
a sober
some say - anti social
situation
intimacy afforded
smoothed soothed fatigue
becomes special
perversely

A late , late night in SW18 a brief encounter with word processor, oh and controlled alcohol. For now it was…. a strange situation where he had become sufficiently dry to look at even supermarket booze prices and grudge the arithmetic sum total on offer! Curiously he also stayed sober enough to not enjoy over indulgence, the on set of cranial pain before sleep interruption? Was this really the turning of the corner?
Anyway, his drinking partner(s) these days were T-Total…one the young g/f as he liked to think of her, and the other woman in his shredded life – a teenage daughter whose visits were probably self serving…(he hoped they were not but reality had to be faced) Oxford Street shopping, China Town lunches …and the occasional stop over on the former display couch ..only so the shops could be attacked earlier?
Between these two little ladies – he clung onto youth and sanity.
But the internal debate, complete with gowned and wigged legal teams, took equal sides for and against ……simply asking the question “why should he cling onto youth or for that matter sanity?” Ok ,ok, the paunch acquired presumably through too many years devoted to sitting at other peoples bar entertainment was a source of private unhappiness …but everything else? On a good day he looked ……a little grey around the temples as opposed to the gills…so what? Other male contemporaries dyed their hair….and forgot their beards or was it they had forgotten their puberty? For maturity they certainly lacked. The case for the defence lay at the mercy of the court.
Capital O in Oh dear Oh dear.
Gymnasium visits had stuttered to a halt, only because a flu bug had created a temporary if phlegm filled debilitation, which also saw a hiatus from work for the first time for just how long?

Thames Walk
21 June 2006
So back to good old London town - and my favoured night duty .A walk along the Thames was this afternoon's pastime' after a morning with my personal trainer , who seems determined to teach me boxing skills , I'm more than a little concerned that I may clout Philip , he says I shall never be quick enough, lets hope not., or I could be writing these pages from a jail cell.Am soon going to take time to refine this blog, get things in better order and I am always open to suggestions!

About Innes
I hail originally from Kilbirnie, a small town near the west coast of Scotland, formerly a steel town , but politicians from the past turned it into a theme park without the theme. , just as similarly the rail links were cut thanks to someone purporting to be a Dr…..we know who he is., don't we?
Now I live in live in Wandsworth, South West London, about the only constant in fifty summers on the planet has been my employ……..currently known as Network Rail. , although I have moved around this island, working in a variety of locations , my position has never really varied from operations.
Oh well onward........

Trip to Balloch
Back to the reality of work and London , away from the almost fairytale idyll of Balloch ., but there must be pain to have gain. The girls in the Tullie Inn next to the station were stars as were the hitchhikers from Manchester whom were making there way north...good luck to you all!
Being away for only three days was a bit short and sweet considering two of the days were largely spent travelling, but worth it none the less, captured a few more pictures which will be posted on these pages shortly..be patient.

Who am I?
Innes derives from the Gaelic innis, meaning island, and I truly am that. Isolationist at best; approached with caution. Lay your mark upon the shores, but carry no expectations; nothing here is guaranteed. The Innes clan originate in Elgin, between the Spey and Lossie rivers on the Moray firth. The clanship was confirmed by King Malcolm IV in 1160, and the clan motto : Be Traist. (be faithful
